WHAT IS MARRIAGE?
In the Sacrament of Matrimony a man and a woman commit themselves to a perpetual, faithful and fruitful life together and, in so doing, the two become one in Christ.
TO GET MARRIED AT ST. MARY MAGDALEN
Contact the Church at 314-961-8400 at least six months prior to the proposed date of the wedding to determine availability and to schedule a meeting with Father Rubie. A wedding date cannot be officially reserved until the couple has met with Father Rubie.
As part of marriage preparation, the couple must complete a marriage “inventory” administered by the priest to help the couple determine their readiness for marriage, and also must complete marriage classes, which serve as instruction on the spiritual, financial, emotional, relational, child rearing and everyday aspects of married life.
WHAT DAYS ARE AVAILABLE?
Weddings can be planned for Friday evenings or Saturdays between 10:00am and 1:00pm (starting time).
WHAT OTHER THINGS SHOULD I KNOW?
Catholics marrying another Catholic are always married at Mass. Those marrying a baptized Christian may be married at Mass if the couple so chooses. Those marrying someone who is not baptized are not married at Mass but at a simpler ceremony. Those Catholics who marry someone other than a Catholic must promise to do all within their power to raise their children Catholic. Should a Catholic wish to marry someone who is not Catholic and have the wedding take place in a church, which is not Catholic, permission (under certain circumstances) can be given by the Bishop.
WEDDING COORDINATOR
St. Mary Magdalen's wedding coordinator assists the priest and the couple with the wedding rehearsal and ceremony. Email the wedding coordinator at [email protected] with any questions you might have.
