The history of St. Mary Magdalen parish begins on February 14, 1912 when Archbishop John J. Glennon commissioned Fr. Joseph Fehlig to establish a parish to serve the growing community of Brentwood, Missouri. The first Mass was celebrated on March 17, 1912 in a temporary building. The cornerstone for the first St. Mary Magdalen School was laid in the Spring of 1922, and in the following September the school was opened to 120 students under the tutelage of three Domincan Sisters. After holding Mass in a variety of locations near the current church building, in 1929 the church moved to the second floor of the school, where it remained for 18 years. Groundbreaking for the current church building took place on Palm Sunday in 1942, and Archbishop Joseph Ritter presided at the dedication of our beautiful new church on Pentecost Sunday in 1947. On January 15, 1962, near the Fiftieth Anniversary of St. Mary Magdalen parish, the brand new school building with a gym and kitchen welcomed 660 students and their teachers.
